Mountain Makins is an Appalachian Folk Life Festival celebrating the unique culture of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Known for high quality crafts and artisans, the festival features a juried arts & crafts fair, top regional musical talent, storytellers, authors, craft demonstrations, and children's activities. All activities take place at historic Rose Center.
This is a juried show. All applicants are juried every year.
Work should exhibit excellence in technique and concept, show imagination and the mark of individuality. All work must be original to and made by the exhibitor.The jury committee reserves the right to eliminate any item or booth that does not meet these criteria.

INSIDE BOOTH: $185
Inside booths are 80 square feet. Most are 8'x10'. Some may be another variation (9'x9').
If you would like to fill in areas between booths with your display and/or change tables and chairs, you can do so for an extra charge of $2 per square foot. This extra area will be determined and charged during setup. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Outside booths are NOT open for the Friday night Preview Party.
NONREFUNDABLE $25 application fee applies until June 1st. After the application fee will increase to $35
Artists who share a booth must each apply separately.
Cancellation Policy:
There will be a processing fee of $10 subtracted from all refunds for processing.
Up to 90 days before the event: Full refund less $10 processing fee
60-60 days before the event: 50% refund less $10 processing fee
30-60 days before the event: 25% refund less $10 processing fee
30 days or less before the event: No Refund
Preview Reception: Friday, October 24th from 6:30pm until 9:00pm. Indoor booths will exhibiting from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. Indoor crafters are given one free meal ticket, one additional ticket may be purchased for $15. Any additional tickets are $40. Crafters will be given time to go through the food line before the public. Preview Party Reception features delicious food and live entertainment, this is an opportunity for the public to get first choice of your one of a kind pieces.
Showcase of Crafts: The Showcase of Crafts, located in the Hal Noe Gallery, features one premier piece from each artist or crafter. This display attracts many visitors who often seek out artists’ booths or purchase the featured item. Bring your entry and this form to the gallery on Friday, October 25th, between 10 AM and 3 PM—no late entries accepted. Winners will be announced at 5:30 PM with awards for Best of Show ($200), Best New Artist ($50), and more, recognizing creativity, craftsmanship, and Appalachian traditions.
Hospitality Lounge: Saturday morning 8:00 am - 9:30 am; Sunday morning 9:00am - 10:30am Complimentary coffee, juice, and goodies will be available in the Prater Hall kitchen.
